Porta Nuova, also known as the Gate of the King, is the main pedestrian entrance to the historical center of the city, at the very beginning of the ancient road Corso Vittorio Emanuele (known as Cassaro). From here, you will be guided through the treasures of the Arab-Norman Path in Palermo. UNESCO World Heritage Monuments, as Cappella Palatina and Palazzo Reale, are right next to our B&B, whereas the Cathedral, the Quattro Canti and Piazza Pretoria are at only few minutes walking distance. Waking up in the morning and feeling that from your room you could almost touch one of the most important monuments in the city, this is what makes our terraces a unique experience.
The old town of Palermo was surrounded by high bastions and forts, where the Gates would give access to the city. Some Gates only survived by names, others still stands in the historical center. Among them, the most important for their historic value are Porta Nuova, Porta Felice, Porta Carini, Porta Mazzara and Porta Sant’Agata. From them we named our rooms.
